Ingredients:

  • 1 can (28 oz) crushed tomatoes
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1/2 teaspoon sugar
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Yield: Makes enough sauce for about 2 large pizzas.

Instructions:

  1. In a saucepan, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.

  2. Pour in the crushed tomatoes and stir well.

  3. Add oregano, basil, sugar, salt, and pepper. Stir to combine.

  4. Bring the sauce to a gentle simmer, then reduce the heat to low.

  5. Let the sauce simmer uncovered for 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it thickens to your desired consistency.

  6. Taste and adjust the seasonings as needed.

  7. Allow the sauce to cool before spreading it onto your pizza dough.

  8. Use immediately or store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week.
